Letter to the Dear Editor
Dec 20, 2012 |
Today I decided to try to improve the world a bit in the simplest way — by giving advice. After all, the 21st century is here, ships plow… and here’s a problem with delivering killed trees. In my opinion, my proposals are quite reasonable and the idea is very sound, agree?
If there’s anyone close to the journal’s body, let them know about your support for this idea, maybe they’ll listen and get it.

Support, it's sometimes like that.
Dec 19, 2012 |
The topic of support services for different products and services is rich material for grumbling and being malicious, which I’m going to do once again. I often tell about such things in my podcast but here I wanted to include original quotes, for greater clarity of the absurdity that exists around us.

Buy, Steal or ...
Dec 14, 2012 |
So, for users of “absolutely free” programs (I mean most Russian-speaking users who’ve never bought a single program) it doesn’t really matter what license, how much the program costs, etc. small stuff. I myself was recently like that, so I’ll be the last to throw a stone at “pirates”.

Very Strange Attack Through WP
Dec 13, 2012 |
Here I had something strange happen. If you’re aware, my service uKeeper receives a lot of letters from users, well just very many. And sends a lot too, but now we’re talking specifically about receiving. So, I was thinking about all kinds of different mechanisms to counter possible abuse, and a lot of such things are implemented there.

New Zite. Should We Celebrate?
Dec 05, 2012 |
Yesterday I suddenly discovered a new “eyed” icon in my iPad Mini toolbar. Yes, it’s the update of my favorite news reader and the best personalized digital newspaper. I’m extremely subjective in this assessment, since Zite is one of those apps I start my day with, where I find new and interesting stuff, and about 70% of all topics for Radio-T come to you precisely from Zite.

Dangers Lurking Everywhere
Nov 27, 2012 |
Once again I’m writing about security issues, and again from personal experience.
So, since the founding of umputun.com site a year ago, its heart was (and is) the absolutely wonderful UBB forum. I wrote about how from the forum, modest HTML knowledge and some familiarity with Perl, you can cobble together a site in a day or two.

Gmail Without Nonsense
Nov 26, 2012 |
After the tragic demise of Sparrow, I faced the need to find some solution for email that would allow me to keep my Gmail open as a separate application. Without going into philosophical debates about “the right way” and “should be in the browser”, I’ll just say it’s inconvenient for me.

Lion Impressions
Jul 31, 2011 |
Some time has passed since the release of OSX 10.7, and it’s been running on all my home (personal and work) machines for at least a week. Yes, my entire considerable fleet of home computers is already living on 10.7, which includes 3 MBPs of different generations, an iMac, and 2 Mac Minis.

So That's What You're Like, America
Jul 11, 2011 |
My two-week absence (and, unfortunately, the server being almost two weeks down) is explained by my trip to America. In general, I went visiting, on vacation. And characteristically, this is my first visit to the United States of North America. Which means you’ll definitely get fresh and unclouded impressions from me.

We Don't Have This, and We Don't Have That

In response to my tweet, a noticeable amount of most curious comments came. By the way, here it is, the original tweet:
